Surgical Techniques for Glottal Airway Enlargement -Laterofixation of the Vocal Fold-

چکیده

Glottal airway enlargement is required to manage dyspnea due bilateral vocal fold paralysis (BVFP). The method of laterofixation reported by Ejnell et al. relativly non-invasive and has been considered the first choice in cases BVFP recent years. With stimulation-on condition, area increased considerably, equaling that normally innervated animal. Exercise also returned normal. Bilateral PCA offers restore ventilation normal level BVFP.

Effect of vocal fold asymmetries on glottal flow.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS Voice disorders, such as unilateral vocal fold paralysis or paresis, and vocal fold scarring feature structural asymmetries of the vocal folds. Studies on how structural asymmetries affect voice has mostly been limited to computational simulations and experiments on mechanical models. The purpose of the current study is to examine the effects of asymmetries in left-right p...

Modeling the effects of a posterior glottal opening on vocal fold dynamics with implications for vocal hyperfunction.

Despite the frequent observation of a persistent opening in the posterior cartilaginous glottis in normal and pathological phonation, its influence on the self-sustained oscillations of the vocal folds is not well understood. The effects of a posterior gap on the vocal fold tissue dynamics and resulting acoustics were numerically investigated using a specially designed flow solver and a reduced...

Glottal gap as an early predictor for permanent laryngoplasty in unilateral vocal fold paralysis.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS To assess the possible predictive factors for permanent laryngoplasty (PL) in patients with acute unilateral vocal fold paralysis (UVFP), and to assess the effects of early vocal cord hyaluronic acid injection. STUDY DESIGN Prospective cohort study. METHODS Patients diagnosed with UVFP within the previous 6 months were enrolled. Initial and follow-up videolaryngostrobo...

Long-term results of surgical treatment of vocal fold nodules.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS To evaluate the long-term outcome of patients with vocal fold nodules treated by surgery alone, or by a combination of surgery and voice therapy and to identify factors associated with long-term recurrent dysphonia. STUDY DESIGN Retrospective study. METHODS All patients who had undergone surgery for vocal fold nodules in a tertiary care hospital between 1996 and 2006 w...
